Notes from AmericasMart: Fresh and fun and full of surprises!
Well, it was our first time down at the Atlanta show and we only went for one night just to check it out. Wow, we could have spent many more days there and still found inspiration. We found to our pleasure that Atlanta is a mash-up of High Point and NY NOW – so lots to see – furniture, lighting, and accessories.
One of our favorite places in Atlanta featured – no surprise – some of our favorite people and their brands. An insanely great booth created by Taylor Burke Home, Dunes & Duchess, and Cotton & Quill. We have mentioned all of these fabulous ladies and their fantastic products many times, but here’s what stood out: creating a space and design vibe that by working together, transcends the rest. That collaboration lifts everything up – including the spirits of all those who happened by. The navy/green/yellow combo in the main salon of the booth was a showstopper!
Cotton + Quill introduced new wallpapers based on her fabrics. Even in grasscloth – truly great. She also transformed some of her fabrics that she collaborated with artist Liza Hathaway Matthews into wallpaper – these girls are all about working together!!!
Ok, last words on collaboration but they are good ones! How about this fabulously chic barcart that was designed by Emily J. McCarthy for Taylor Burke Home?! Insane. It looked like something out of an old Hollywood movie. And the wave lamp from Dunes + Duchess just makes it on top. Bottom line – BRAVO to all these girls for getting it done – together – in STYLE!!!
Ok, so how about a little whimsy? Or a lot? There were such fun pieces to be seen in so many places.
First off we must talk about the new children’s line from Pyar + Co. Paula Queen makes the chicest pillows that are glam and gorgeous. But her Lil’ Pyar line has a sweet touch without being cloying, and it is perfect for parents who want to decorate their children’s area in a fresh way.
This little guy sports his own personal Beats – named Ollie by her son – and he also comes as a little pillow that doubles as a little stuffed animal to love. The blanket and pillow set is a perfect travel companion for your little one.
The whole line is just adorable!
But whimsy is not just for kiddos – even the ever sophisticated Currey + Company had some pieces that brought a smile.
Jellyfish pendants anyone?
Or how about this guy as a desk chair or side chair in your living room – drama!
Design Legacy kept spirits high with their great use of colors. We loved this pink vignette….
….and the mix of colorful abstract art with traditional pieces.
And as for sleek sophistication mixed with a wink and a smile, Barbara Cosgrove lighting never disappoints. We were obsessed with the use of antlers.
But as this is the AmericasMart – furniture is not the only game in town. We found some amazing accessories and accents that we can’t wait to bring to Trellis Home!
First, we were sent by some buyers in the know up to J.M Piers to see his uber-sophisticated home accessories. LOVED them!
How about this use of monogrammed tole pieces? Large trays that can either rest on a large ottoman in your living room or be turned into a table on a custom stand – divine.
And these swell pieces can glam up your coffee table or vanity.
The Blush Label was one of our favorite finds. Tucked back in a far corner were these two lovely sisters who blew us away with their colorful accessories! Pillows and cocktail napkins, coasters and trays – these girls are creative, fun and hey – if these pieces are made for the “queen of cocktail hour” we are IN!
Whew – well there was SO much to see and we only went for one night. Next time, AmericasMart, we will be back for longer!!!
