FloBro Show House Get the Look

We had a delightful time in Palm Springs this February designing the bedroom of Kelly Lee (aka “Kelly Golightly”) and Fred Moser at the Christopher Kennedy Compound Modernism week Show House.  We were inspired by all of the incredible tastemakers this year who all turned out STUNNING rooms.

For the Master Bedroom we designed this year, we were fortunate enough to partner with the absolutely fabulous Bay Area furniture company, Selamat Designs.  One of their newest and most exciting lines is their collaboration with the Florence Broadhurst Estate – bringing to life the essence of the inimitable Australian design maven melded with distinctive, classic Selamat authenticity.

We are SO excited to be one of the only locations in New England to carry the incredible Florence Broadhurst line in our Showroom in Hingham, MA, both to the public and to the Trade.  Many of these pieces are either already in our Hingham showroom or available online at https://trellishome.com/collections/florence-broadhurst. , so we invite you to swing by and check out the collection!  We will also be having a Florify America pop up shop experience in Hingham early Fall and can’t wait to bring even more of this goodness back to the East Coast!

Let’s talk about some of our favorite pieces we used in the Master Bedroom of Villa Golightly…..beginning with the element that started it all –  this custom colored Florence Broadhurst “Cockatoo” wallpaper printed for us by Mitchell Black, using one of Florence’s famous patterns from the 1960’s.  We also had fabric printed from Australia to match, lining the inside of the bed canopy and the custom bedskirt. (Click on images for link)

Next we chose the perfect shade of white in Dunn Edwards “Whisper” for the walls and a calming pale blue called “Morning Calm” for the ceiling.  The floor was so large with 2 levels, so a beautiful marble was used for the sitting area while the lower part of the bedroom was wall-to-wall in the most gorgeous pale grey pattern by Stanton Carpet called “Hunter Hill” (color: Cirrus).  We are obsessed with this carpet and want to use it in every room!!! It’s a perfectly subtle pattern that gives just enough interest without being overbearing.

Then of course there are the AMAZING Jade lacquered raffia Shanghai 6-drawer dresser and Shanghai Jade Bedside Tables, featuring brass kabuki inspired hardware….SWOON! (click image for link):

A favorite accent were the Cockatoo Table Lamps that adorned the bedside tables and mimicked the wallpaper subject. Chic and whimsical at the same time, with a pretty Lucite base! And the super cool Syndey Mod Swirls Lamps were a perfect neutral lighting accent with a twist, on the dresser flanking the Shanghai Octagonal Mirror (also pictured above):

These rattan Sydney Mod Steps Barrel Chairs were front and center in the upper seating area, and really made a statement with their chic curved design, especially with the custom “Cockatoo” fabric on the seats to tie to the wallpaper and bed canopy!  These beauties are available in white or black, and come standard with off white canvas twill cushions but can be ordered COM as well:

The headboard of course was a main focus of the room, and we love this Florence Broadhurst Deco-inspired “Shanghai Tufted Headboard”.  We covered it in a Crypton Home fabric from Thibaut, called “Bailey”, which was the perfect neutral with a little bit of texture to show off this spectacular silhouette. The Florence Broadhurst “Solar Marine” and “Egrets Linen Topaz” throw pillows added the finishing touch. The Matouk Linens sheets folded over the Florence Broadhurst Matelassé Coverlet was just the sophisticated bedding combo this room needed to work with all the pattern and color surrounding it.

The mirrors from this collection are to die for, and we had a hard time choosing which ones to hang in the room!  The full collection is on our website, but here are a few others we included in our design.  The Shanghai Kabuki Mirror is made out of steel wire with convex mirror and was a stunner over the custom fireplace mantel!  The Sydney Mod Aubrey Clad mirror was the perfect bedside complement, but would also look beautiful over a fireplace or console:

And we would be remiss if we didn’t talk about this glamourous little “writing desk” area facing the pool.  The mirrored Shanghai Metropolis Console also serves as a chic desk or vanity, and we have it paired here with the Justinian Accent Chair and topped with the Shanghai Peacock Feathers Sculpture,  Shanghai Agate Tray, and pretty aqua Sydney Mod Diamond vases:

Although not part of the Florence Broadhurst Collection, the art we chose to feature on the walls was also a talking point of the room!  The stunning photograph called “Cabanas, Italy”, from Gray Malin’s new Italian Geometric collection took center stage on the main wall. This new series has just been released and is absolutely stunning – check it out on www.graymalin.com !

In the long hallway leading into the Master, guests were greeted by a beautiful custom Peacock painting by Jeffrey Mattia. Look closely, and you will see the names of Kelly Golightly, Palm Springs, Villa Golightly woven into the image -even a picture of the house among other personalized touches.  Jeff is an incredibly talented artist and can create just about anything you dream up to make it truly “yours”.  Check him out at www.jeffreyjmattiastudio.com and create your own custom piece!

The opposite wall featured the divine 5 foot tall Nantucket Gyotuku Fish painting Triptych.  These beautiful pieces by Susan O’Donnell are printed using real fish, an ancient Japanese art form called gyotuku. Hanging together in large scale, they created just the calming “aquarium-like” ethereal feeling needed as you entered the calm color scheme of the Master Bedroom.  These paintings can also be customized in almost any shade of linen, any color fish, and any size!  Contact our showroom for more info!

This is just a taste of how fabulous the Florence Broadhurst collection is – we had so much fun curating a room with this incredible line! Check out more of the collection here: https://trellishome.com/collections/florence-broadhurst. .  Be sure to follow us on Instagram and Facebook for sneak peeks as we visit the Selamat Showroom in High Point next week – always a highlight!
