Master Bedroom by Trellis Home in the Feb/March issue of Traditional Home Magazine!
What a thrill to have had the opportunity to design the Master Bedroom at the Christopher Kennedy Compound Modernism Show House in Palm Springs last February, and even MORE thrilling to see it in print in this month’s Feb/March issue of Traditional Home magazine! It was an incredible experience to be included among so many talented tastemakers and to partner with some amazing companies to make our vision come true for the Master Bedroom of “Villa Golightly”, the home of lifestyle blogger Kelly Lee (aka @kellygolightly) and photographer Klaus Moser.
Our main inspiration began with the vibrant Florence Broadhurst “Cockatoo” pattern which we had custom printed as wallpaper and fabric, and then layered in some amazing pieces from the Florence Broadhurst collection by Selamat Designs. The drapery and matching bed canopy were custom designed to mimic the vibe of the pool canopies at the iconic Viceroy Hotel, which seemed fitting as the bedroom also had a lovely picture window looking out towards the pool and patio. Pretty shades of teal and a soft soothing shade of blue on the ceiling (“Morning Calm” by Dunn Edwards) were chosen as accents to the creamy white walls (“Whisper” by Dunn Edwards). The carpet was a gorgeous neutral light wool carpet with a subtle pattern called “Hunter Hill” in Cirrus by Stanton Carpet, which has since become a go-to for many of our design projects.

The Master bedroom was a large space, and also included a step up to a pretty fireplace and sitting area. The custom drapery takes the scene here, accented by two beautiful Sydney Mod Rattan barrel chairs, which we had covered in the Florence Broadhurst “Cockatoo” pattern to echo the bed canopy and wallpapered accent wall. Above the fireplace we hung the Florence Broadhurst Shanghai Kabuki Mirror that is reminiscent of peacock feathers, and placed in front are some chic Moss Studio poufs in metallic linen.
Across from the fireplace was a cozy corner that looked out to the pool where we styled this beautiful mirrored Shanghai Metropolis Desk/Console with a Kabuki Peacock Feather sculpture, pretty faceted vases and one of our favorite chairs, the Justinian chair by Selamat:
The room was rounded out with some fabulous art, as well. Gray Malin’s divine photograph called “White Cabanas, Tuscany” was on the far wall between the bed and fireplace, while the gorgeous custom peacock painting by Jeff Mattia (www.jeffreymattiastudio.com) wove in personal monikers and meanings hidden within it’s pattern. The large wall leading into the bedroom was filled beautifully by 3 large Fish Prints on linen by Nantucket Gyotaku.
